In 1990 Harvey Jones reported that an iron spike marked the traditional burial place of Edmund Jones, a Revolutionary War soldier who gave 200 acres of land to UNC.

Enclosed: No. Markers: Yes. Earliest burial: 1843 Most Recent burial: 1844 Listed: Yes. Miscellaneous information: When the railroad came in 1884, some bodies were moved from the original burial location. Harvey Jones, Coleridge, visited site and identified approximate location of the relocated burials. Ref: Wade Hadley. Burial site was moved several yards when the railroad came through the area in the late 1800's. The new location was always known to family and current markers were placed in the 1990's. Edmund "Edmond" Jones served in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He also sold part of his land in Orange County, NC to help form what would become the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
